Stuy Or Die

Stuy Or Die is a full-length play following the lives of three Asian-American middle schoolers. Eileen wants to impress her family on the other side of the world. Brian wants his parents to come back home. Alex just wants to rap. In October of 2014, the students must take the Specialized High School Admissions Test (S.H.S.A.T), a test that will determine the rest of their lives. With 821 days before their future is packaged into a score, the three students must battle ELA, Math, and Logic questions as they search for a dream they can believe in.

Inspired by real stories from over 30 students, teachers, and parents, the play dives into themes of family pressure, identity, survival, and dreams — all through a mix of memory, imagination, and emotional truth.

Written by the award-winning playwright Jason Wang, directed by Jonathan Chang., and produced by Lighthouse Ladies founder Sonia Victoria Werner
