LUCKY CAT

My final project for my artist's books class about a deeply irrational fear I had growing up about lucky cats, or 招き猫 (maneki neko) in Japanese, until I had a dream about it where I confronted a lucky cat spirit and we came to an agreement. It is a wearable sculpture with two accordion books, one hanging from each eye.

Created via paper mache using scrap paper, wheat paste, aluminum armature wire, Elmer's glue, annealed wire, sewing thread, yarn, scrap fabric, and acrylic paint.
